Teacher Training on Comprehensive Sexuality Education in Kenema<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Since January 2026, the JaSiLe Foundation, NPO Alazi\u2019s local entity, has been conducting teacher training to strengthen sexuality education in schools in Kenema, Sierra Leone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative aims to empower schoolteachers with the necessary knowledge and teaching methodologies to deliver sustainable lessons, ultimately preventing adolescent unintended pregnancies and school dropouts. As a pilot phase, 10 teachers from 5 schools are participating in the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supported by the JICA Fund, this project is implemented in close collaboration with the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education and the Ministry of Health, aiming to establish and promote high-quality comprehensive sexuality education within school environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25a0 \u00a0Final Examinations Completed<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Following the successful completion of the training program for local teachers, we recently conducted the final examination to assess their understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participating teachers approached the final exam with great dedication, demonstrating their grasp of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) as well as effective instruction methods regarding challenges such as teenage pregnancy and sexual violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25a0 Teachers’ Passion and Achievement<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This final exam was designed not merely as a formal wrap-up, but to ensure that teachers truly internalized the knowledge and could deliver it accurately to their students in the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite their busy schedules, the teachers spent substantial time reviewing the materials and gave their all during the exam. Their passionate commitment clearly reflected their strong desire to protect the future of their students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25a0 Celebrating All Passers: Award Ceremony Coming Soon<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

All participating teachers successfully passed the final examination! To honor their dedication as certified “Sexuality Education Trainers”, we will be hosting a celebratory award ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the upcoming ceremony, certified teachers will be presented with official certificates in the presence of representatives from both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health. This event will serve not only to boost the teachers’ motivation, but also as a vital opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of CSE throughout the schools and local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25a0 Message from Local Staff<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

“We are doing truly impactful work for the people of Sierra Leone, but reaching out to key stakeholders and the broader community is essential. No matter how valuable our support is, its impact remains hidden if people are unaware of it. Through this upcoming award ceremony, we aim to widely communicate our achievements and spread the message of this project.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25a0 Beyond the Ceremony<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At JaSiLe Foundation, our commitment does not end with training programs or award ceremonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will actively monitor and support the process as these trained teachers return to their respective schools to deliver sexuality education directly to their students. To maintain quality, certified teachers are required to conduct CSE sessions at least three times a year for classes of 30 students or fewer. JaSiLe Foundation will continue to provide regular follow-ups and stand by the teachers as they navigate challenges on the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By systematically building a network of sustainable “Sexuality Education Trainers” within the community, we strive for a future where children possess accurate knowledge and can live safely and authentically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
